New Jersey High School Football Recap -- Week Ending 09/25

St. Joseph's Regional (Montvale) (3-0, 0-0) d. Hackensack (2-1, 2-0) 28-0.

Quickie: Scoring a TD on Special Teams to start off the game, another on one of his 15 carries, Anthony Ferla has brought his season  rushing total to 369 yards.  The Green Knights play Paramus Catholic next week before hosting Don Bosco Prep October 7th (7 p.m.) in what will be one of the most anticipated contests across the state this year.

Middletown South (3-0, 3-0) d. Colts Neck (1-2,1-2) 31-7.

Quickie: Nick Macaluso sparked the Eagles with a second quarter 40-yard TD interception that tied the score at 7 and 7.

Elizabeth (1-2, 1-1) d. Plainfield (2-1, 1-1) 17-14.

Quickie: Despite Gary Warren's absence, the  Minutemen did just enough on Special teams including a return of the opening kick-off 75 yards for the initial score.

Carteret (3-0, 2-0) d. South River (1-2, 1-1) 33-0.

Quickie: Jason Adjepong and the stingy Ramblers defense allowed 1 first down the entire game in setting up a showdown with undefeated rival New Brunswick next week.

Bergen Catholic (2-1, 1-1) d. Paramus Catholic (1-2, 0-1) 27-0.

Quickie: In rebounding from the previous week's loss to Bergen Catholic, the Crusaders were led by Dean Scaduto's team-leading 10 tackles.

Tenafly (2-1, 2-1) d. Rutherford (0-3, 0-3) 28-0.

Quickie: The Tenafly defense has allowed a total of 7 points on the season, though they had only scored a total of 12 in their first 2 games.  The Tigers face untested Queen of Peace (3-0) next week.

Ridgewood (2-1, 2-0) d. Teaneck (0-2, 0-1) 21-20.

Quickie: The Highwaymen seemed all but certain to tie the score at 21-apiece when the snap for the tying extra-point, late in the 4th quarter, went awry and the Maroons preserved their 1-point victory.
