Friday Night Lights - St. Joe's Green Knights

The St. Joe's Green Knights opened the 2005 season with a victory against the Ghosts of Eastside (Paterson). Scout.com was on hand to cover the game.

It was an admittedly slow start this pre-season. But after all, pre-season is just that. An opportunity to see where the newcomers fit. A chance to gauge the effectiveness of some of tomorrow's stars. Once the season got underway, however, it was back to business as usual for the Green Knights.

St. Joseph Regional HS [NNJIL C] opened their season against Eastside [NNJIL B]. High expectations to start the season were met with an impressive 46-20 season-opening victory, at home, under a bright and blue early fall sky.

The Green Knights sent the opening kickoff into the endzone and the Ghosts began at their 20-yard line. On the opening play from scrimmage, however, St. Joe's interior defensive line would force a fumble and recover the ball. One play later Jr. QB Rob Cervini would hand the ball off to Sr. TB (No.2) Anthony Ferla who, following the blocking of pulling offensive Guard Sr. (No.54) Chris DellaFave, would score his first of two 1st- quarter touchdowns.

St. Joe's would jump on top 7-0 and not look back as they notched their first victory of the season.

(No. 27) Terrence Klein was impressive, with his highlight of the day coming on a second quarter 15-yard reception where he would spin away and shed two would-be tacklers, then lower his shoulder on his way to running over a Ghost DB.

Sr. WR (No. 16) Junior Gallette also had a a solid showing reeling in several outstanding catches and notching his first 2 TDs of the season.

Jr. QB (No. 12) Rob Cervini had the defense guessing as he was equally effective running the ball as he was passing it.
