Rutgers After St. Petersburg HS Star

Donald Bowens is a four year starter at St. Petersburg HS [FL] that finished last season with 30 receptions for 510 yards and four touchdowns. In addition he also plays linebacker, where he led his team in tackles as a freshman.

Donald Bowens, from St.Petersburg, (Fla.) is having a great senior season. The 6-3, 195-pound receiver had an impressive performance in last week's game recording three receptions for 115 yards with one touchdown [this interview was conducted prior to this past weekend's HS games]. Bowens plays both sides of the ball, and recorded an interception in last week's game as well.

Bowens is known for his play-making skills once he catches the ball and said, "You have to be able to do something with the ball once you catch it."

Bowens is holding scholarship offers from Rutgers, Ole Miss, Indiana and Iowa State.

He is wide open with his favorites, but stated that key factors such as early playing time and a college with a good journalism school will factor into his decision.

Bowens has not scheduled an official visit with Rutgers, but knows what he is looking for once he has set his five official visits.

"I want to see the interaction between the coaches and players," he said.

"The campus and the surrounding town are important. Early playing time is important, but I plan to major in journalism, so that is important as well."
