Changes At The Top for Minemyer

Jeff Minemyer is a 6-foot-7 and 235-pound TE prospect from Bishop Carroll (Pa.). For some time now, Minemyer had Rutgers and West Virginia among his two favorite schools. He visited the Rutgers Campus for the RU/WVU contest and was on hand for the WVU/UL game this past weekend. With two more unofficial visits behind him, Minemyer now favors one school.

I have offers from West Virginia, Rutgers, Michigan State, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Indiana, Colorado State, Akron, and Eastern Michigan," said Jeff Minemyer in an earlier interview with

North Carolina State was also added to the expanding list.

And until recently, West Virginia and Rutgers were firmly planted at the very top of his list.

The Bishop Carroll prospect took an unofficial visit to Rutgers two weekends ago to see the Scarlet Knights take on the Mountaineers.

"When we first got there we all met in the tent and we got a chance to meet with some of the coaches, talk with them and we ate breakfast," stated Minemyer.

"Then we all went to watch the game. It was a pretty good game. I liked how Rutgers came back with two touchdowns to get close. In the past, Rutgers teams would have folded but this team wanted to win and was in the game throughout."

"I also had a chance to meet Clark Harris [after the game]. He is a great player, a great receiver."

Though Minemyer was not able to watch the Rutgers-Syracuse game this past weekend, he was well aware of the result.

"I really like how they're improving. Their offense can move the ball down the field and now their defense is starting to play well."

The reason why Minemyer was not able to tune into the Rutgers' game this past weekend was due to a previous engagement.

"I went to the West Virginia game to watch them play Louisville," continued Minemyer.

"Everything was amazing. Before the game, I got a chance to go on the field and there were a group of fans [in the stands] that I got a chance to meet. They started to chant my name and I was really impressed they knew I was even there."

"That place [Mountaineer Stadium] was just rumbling. For them to be down 24-7 and then come back the way they did and win in triple overtime was really amazing."

Given that Minemyer had a chance to see his two favorites up close, what are his thoughts on his recruitment now?

"West Virginia is my number one school," stated Minemyer.

Indeed, Minemyer stated that he came awfully close to actually pulling the trigger on Saturday, in favor of WVU.

"I'm probably going to head back for the West Virginia/Pitt game when they play later on. I might also end up taking a visit to North Carolina State."

Minemyer stated that Penn State has been showing him increased interest as of late and is currently awaiting on some of his senior film. However, if a Penn State offer is not tendered Minemyer indicated that he may pull the trigger for WVU when the Mountaineers play the Panthers in the Backyard Brawl.

While Minemyer wouldn't state that Rutgers is completely out of the picture, he did indicate that his experience and the tremendous fan base at West Virginia had a significant impact on him.
