New Name in recruiting

As the recruiting year proceeds new names will enter the collective consciousness of recruiting fans throughout the country. For Rutgers, there is no difference.

One of the number of recruits to watch Rutgers defeat Navy was Bryant Bonds. To many of the Rutgers fans, he is a new name to be mindful of . But Rutgers is not the only school that Bonds has garnered the attention of. Pittsburgh, Northwestern, Liberty, Duke, Illinois State and James Madison have all requested films of the 5'11"-205lbs fullback/linebacker.

For this season, Bonds has rushed for over 700 yards in just five games and has scored 14 touchdowns. On defense, he had 55 tackles, 1 sack, blocked one pass, and has caused one fumble.

Bonds states that his strength is his strength. He has a 315lbs bench press and 600lbs squat.

Due to the number of programs that have been showing interest, he has developed some criteria for making a decision. The first factor is that the school has a strong biology or pre-med program. After his football days are done, he hopes to become a surgeon. Second, Bonds is looking for a school that has a good atmosphere for football games as well as to attend classes. His third factor is the school's tradition of football success or their commitment to the program's success.

During the summer, Bonds took unofficial visits to Rutgers, Richmond, James Madison, and Duke. As a result, he has developed a list of favorites.

Below are his favorites and his comments on each:

- Nice atmosphere
- Since the team is senior rich, they should have a strong team.
- Likes the academic support
- Likes the big campus and the various opportunities/activities that it presents

- Likes the city atmosphere.

James Madison
- Likes the entire campus
- Big campus with a small town feel

Many of the schools that are interesting in Bonds will make decisions on a scholarship offer in the next three to four weeks. Scout will be checking his status. Stay tuned.
