Where will Morales Trip?

"It was really good. The atmosphere was great," stated Andres Morales after taking an unofficial visit to Rutgers for their homecoming contest versus the Naval Academy.

Standing in at 6-foot-2 and 245-pounds, Andres Morales has been playing his typical great defense and has his Libert HS (Bethlehem, Pa.) squad out to a 9-1 mark.

We're 9-1 and we're the second seed. We play Easton in our home. Easton is the third seed," stated Morales.

The revenge factor will be playing a role this Friday night as Liberty's only loss came at the hands of this same Easton squad. After starting the season with an 8-0 mark, the Hurricanes took a 14-0 first half lead into the 4th quarter over Easton (7-2) but would eventually fall 28-21.

"This game is obviously important now. It's do or die and we need to get it done."

For the most part, Morales has been focusing on his senior season. However, he has had time to take a few unofficial visits and pay a little attention to some schools he may be suiting up for at the collegiate level. One of the schools Morales recently visited was Rutgers.

"I had to leave at the end of the third quarter so I didn't get to see the end. I heard the fans and students rushed the field at the end," stated Morales.

Morales was accompanied by his parents and brother and stated that his entire family enjoyed the atmosphere.

"They [Morales' parents] liked it. They liked the tailgating and the general atmosphere."

Besides Rutgers, Richmond has also stepped forward with an offer. However, several schools are now pursuing Morales with increased vigor.

"I've been talking to coaches from North Carolina State, a coach from Connecticut was at my practice a week or two ago, and I get a bunch of mail from other schools."

Morales states that his favorites list includes, in no particular order, North Carolina State, Rutgers, West Virginia, Missouri, Virginia, Lehigh, and Connecticut.

We asked Morales to tell us a little bit about each of the schools currently showing him the most interest.

Rutgers: I like the school's size and location. I don't like anything too small and Rutgers is huge and I like that. It's close to home and my family can come to see me play. They're an up and coming program and I'd like to be a part of that.

North Carolina State: I was down there during the summer and everything there was just phenomenal. It's a really nice place.

West Virginia: I went to their camp. Their coaching staff are great people and they are all so funny and easy to get along with.

Missouri: I just started talking to their coach. I hear that they have a couple of linebackers that are leaving and that could open up room for me.

Virginia: I heard their campus is great. I haven't talked to them in a while, but I'm still interested.

Lehigh: It's right in my own backyard.

Connecticut: They're getting a great new facility pretty soon and they are also an up and coming program.

At this time, Morales has decided on one official visit, to Rutgers. This date sets up a potentially interesting weekend for the Scarlet Knights as several visitors, from both near and far, are expected to make the trek to New Jersey on the weekend of December 17-18.
