To date, Rutgers has eight commitments for the 2006 recruiting class. One of the most impressive players is Blair Bines. At 6'0"-230lbs, Bines is a terror from his middle linebacker position. After eight games, Bines has registered 108 tackles, forced one fumble, recovered one fumble, and four sacks. His efforts has helped his team reach an undefeated record as they enter the playoffs this Saturday.
Bines benches 380lbs, squats 600lbs , and runs a 4.65 forty yard dash. This coupled with his passion for hitting and his work ethic made him one of the most recruited players in New York. In the late summer, he selected Rutgers over offers from North Carolina and Virginia.
He loves the fact that Rutgers has found some success this year. Jokingly, he stated "I wish they would've waited until next year. But I think its great and I'm happy for them and hope that I'll help next year." Regarding next year, Bines would like to play as a true freshmen in any position that he can help the team.
As far as his academics, Bines has been steadily rising his grades. A few weeks ago, he took the SATs and is feeling very confident about his score. As a result, Bines stated that he will be eligible.
