Former Player Perspective - Chris Brantley

The former player perspective is a feature where a former Scarlet Knight reviews the past week's game or the season to date and provides viewpoints. This week's installment features Chris Brantley's(Class of 1995) perspective on the Louisville game and his outlook for the remainder of the season.

Hello, Rutgers Fans. This is Chris Brantley and I played WR at Rutgers from 1989-93. Many of you might remember my four touchdown catch performance against Virginia Tech in 1992, which included the game winner with no time on the clock. In 1994, I was drafted in the 4th round by the LA Rams. My professional playing days resulted in stops not only in the NFL but NFL Europe, XFL and AFL. Today, I spend my time representing professional athletes for contract negotiations and marketing/endorsements.

Now for a quick and brief recap of the Rutgers-Louisville game, this was a tough one for Rutgers. Early on, the Rutgers defense was keeping them in the game but it seemed like Louisville just wore Rutgers down. I thought Rutgers would have been alittle more competitive. The defense played well, but it was put in tough spots all night long. Hopefully, Rutgers will come back with a strong effort in two weeks against Cincinnati.

In my opinion, Rutgers has shown this season that they can compete at a high level. This is the first team that has been bowl eligible since I left 10 years ago.
Their offense reminds me a lot of the teams that I played on. A lot of talent at the skilled positions and a defense that can be very tough to move the ball
against. They have proven this season that they are worthy of a bowl appearance and I am looking forward to see them in their first post season appearance in 27 years.
