West Side HS OL Visits Rutgers

Rodney Joseph stands in at 6'5" and 335-pounds. An offensive line prospect by way of West Side HS, Newark NJ, Joseph was one of many tri-state area prospects on hand for the Scarlet Knights' regular season finale versus the Bearcats.

Standing in at 6-foot-5 and 335-pounds, Rodney Joseph is an imposing specimen that plays both the defensive and offensive line positions for West Side HS in Newark NJ.

Scout.com first caught up with Joseph immediately after attending the Rutgers Football camp this past summer. A big body with quick feet, Joseph was one of the top OL prospects attending the RU camp this past summer. At the time, Joseph claimed offers from a number of schools including Notre Dame, Boston College, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech and others. After his performance this summer his in-state school, Rutgers, stepped forth with an offer.

In addition to the aforementioned, Joseph also claims offers from Penn State and Connecticut.

Joseph has not yet taken any of his five allotted official visits but was on hand for an unofficial to Rutgers this past weekend.

"They have really good coaches over there [at Rutgers], they have really good facilities and a very nice weight room," stated Joseph.

On hand for Rutgers' regular season finale, Joseph seemed to enjoy his time at Rutgers Stadium.

"That was a good game. They [Rutgers] just blew them out and did what they had to do," said Joseph.

Joseph's West Side team finished their season with a 5-5 record.

"We were the first West Side team to go to the playoffs," stated Joseph.

However, in a first round North II/Group III contest the Roughriders were defeated by the higher seeded Zebras of New Brunswick.

Joseph, who holds a near 3.0 GPA in the classroom has yet to take any official visits. He states that he will need to first discuss his options regarding official trips with his HS coach.

At this time Joseph indicates he does not have a clear leader.
