Big Time DB talks about Rutgers Visit

Brandon Heath is an impact player at either DB or WR with schools like Tennessee, West Virginia, Rutgers, and Louisville pursuing him. His first visit was to Rutgers. Check out what he has to say about it.

Brandon Heath is one of the most wanted DBs in the state of Florida with offers from Tennessee, West Virginia, Louisville, Minnesota, Florida, North Carolina State, and Rutgers. During this past season, he had 32 catches 620 yards from his WR position. From his Safety position, he had 71 tackles, 8 INTs with 3 for TDs, 3 sacks, and 4 tackles for losses. He will play in the Florida North vs Florida South game along with appearing in the Palm beach county Outback Bowl.

He has visits setup with Louisville (12/16), Tennessee 1/13, and West Virginia (1/20). Some possible destinations for his final visit are North Carolina State, South Carolina, and Oklahoma.

During the weekend of December 9th, he visited the state university of New Jersey - Rutgers. He was hosted by fellow Floridian, Willie Foster. The fact that Rutgers has over 20 players from Florida on the roster was a welcomed sight for Heath. It allowed him to feel at home. He loved the environment, coaches, and players. The trip to New York City was really enjoyable. He stated that "it was like a movie with all of the traffic, people, and lights". The school's proximity to (45 minutes away) NYC was a real positive for Heath. He stated that "if there is nothing to do on campus, I can go there to sight see". A big point for him was the academics particularly the fact the Rutgers rates 3rd among graduation rates below Stanford and Duke. He felt that this was a fact that will help him after he is done playing football.

From a scale of 1 to 10, Heath rated the visit an "8".

One of the things that are in Rutgers' favor is the good relationship the coaching staff has established with Heath. During the Rutgers Camps in South Florida, the Rutgers staff created a bond with him. His recruiting coach, Darrin Rizzi, has made a big impression on him. Heath stated that "He (Coach Rizzi) is one of the best recruiters to recruit me".

Since he has had a good visit to Rutgers, does he have a leader now? Heath stated that he currently does not have a leader. He stated that "I like the direction of the program and I could see myself playing there. But I would like to take the rest of my visits to make sure". A decision should not be expected until Signing Day.
