Gary Green, 5'11, 225, 4.8, Montclair H.S.
Gary Green is another of the young men I have talked to this season who falls into the category of "a pleasure to talk to." Well spoken, well mannered and articulate, one would never think that his Montclair team mates have given him the nickname "The Hitman." But on the field the intensity of this young man shows. Gary likes to hit. Last year Gary had 3 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries and a forced fumble and his intensity has drawn the attention of several Div 1A schools. Gary has already gotten interest from Rutgers, Maryland, UCF and Kansas State and others and more are sure to follow.
Gary has the strength and the bulk to make it at the division 1A level and he'll tell you that people who question his height just don't know. Gary is only sixteen years of age and he comes from a family where growth spurts come late. "My dad is 6-4 and he didn't hit his growth spurt until he was 18." Even if that growth spurt doesn't get him to 6-4 it won't bother Gary. "Size doesn't matter, what matters is inside," he notes and adds that he is a worker who knows that you have to "work hard to get what you want."
Gary is thinking about taking in the Maryland camp this year but early on Gary's favorite is Rutgers.
With a 3.2 GPA and a great attitude the Knights would be well advised to drop by Montclair this recruiting season and take a long, hard look.
