Rutgers gets a commitment from a Big Fla OL.

The line is where the game is won and lost. Rutgers looks to continue their improved offensive line play with the commitment of Joel Figueroa.

Joel Figueroa, a big OL from North Miami High in Miami, Fla has committed to Rutgers. The 6'5 330 lb states he committed to coach Demarest last night and will play left tackle at Rutgers. Figueroa selected Rutgers over offers from Akron, Tennesse State, Colorado, Cincy, and Miami (Ohio). Even though he has pledged to Rutgers, he is still going to take his visits. He has trips lined up to Akron and Tennessee State, and has been fielding regular calls from Florida State.

He attributes the excellent educational opportunities, a love for NYC and the staff, as well as playing Division I football for a solid program as reasons for his commitment. On his relationship with his recruiter Demo, he is "just good people "and "I feel that he wants me as a person to represent the school, not only as a player". But he also alluded to his power of persuasion "Demo-that man should be a lawyer".

For a man that size, he believes his biggest strength are his feet. "I move real well for a man my size. I am also proud of my development as a pass blocker".

He will be participating in the Dade-Broward All-Star game on January 15th, and we will update our Scout subscribers on his performance against the best from Broward.
