Lovecchio may transfer to RU; Cortez Davis signs

"LoVecchio is exactly the kind of home-grown talent Schiano has made a priority of keeping in state. In 1999, before Schiano was the coach at Rutgers, LoVecchio led Bergen Catholic to a 10-1 record and the Parochial Group 4 state title." -The New York Post

The New York Post is reporting that Matt Lovecchio, who recently stated that he was transferring out of Notre Dame, is considering the Scarlet Knights.

Sources told The Post that Rutgers is high on the list of schools at which LoVecchio is looking. The Scarlet Knights, who play at Notre Dame this season, are considered a program on the rise under coach Greg Schiano.

Meanwhile South Bend Slams Lovecchio

Joe Montana he wasn't. That comparison was never fair. Though none of them probably were, in hindsight. Nonetheless during that magical fall of 2000 we who pump electricity into the hype machine that is Notre Dame football casually compared Matt LoVecchio to the Montanas and Blair Kiels and Joe Theismanns. We called LoVecchio the $15 million man, the guy responsible for taking the Irish to the Fiesta Bowl and saving Bob Davie's job for another season, the quarterback considered so cool under pressure that he was checked for hypothermia. We got carried away. Now, it seems, so has he.
