Andres Morales -- Firm?

As a senior Andres Morales earned first team Class AAAA Associated Press All-Pennsylvania honors. Morales was also named an area All-Star by the Morning Call and was selected to the prestigious Pennsylvania Big 33 team. With some hefty honors bestowed upon him the offers started to pile up for Morales, and his recruitment really began to heat up, especially during the last month.

Andres Morales, the 6-foot-2, 245-pound linebacker by way of Liberty High in Bethlehem, Pa., had a bit of a hectic conclusion to his recruitment. After selecting the Scarlet Knights back in December, over offers from Connecticut, North Carolina State, Missouri, and others, a visit to North Carolina State ensued.

And rumors swirled - where would the All-PA LB land? Would he be headed to ACC country or would he stay true to his original commitment?

"Yeah, I'm solid on Rutgers. I have my papers in hand already," stated Morales.

Interestingly enough, while fans tortured over Morales' pending final decision, Morales states that his trip to North Carolina State actually made things easier for him in the end.

"Actually, my decision got easy. After visiting NC State I was sure I wanted to go to Rutgers. NC State isn't as exciting as Rutgers is, and the coaches didn't have as much personality as the Rutgers coaches did," said Morales.

After his trip to ACC country, Rutgers Head Coach Greg "The Closer" Schiano payed an in-home visit to the Morales household. A visit that, in the end, sealed the deal.

"It was Coach Schiano that was the factor [for me]. He was always full of life and energy and just seemed like a good guy. There was nothing I didn't like about him. [When he came by] We had fun just hanging out at my house. It was like he had been by a bunch of times before. I wouldn't even call it a visit, it was more like hanging out," continued Morales.

Morales' folks, who now have the opportunity to see their son on a regular basis are equally excited.

"They [Morales' parents] like him alot. They already have a good trust in him. They can't wait," said Morales.

The future Scarlet Knight doesn't have any elaborate plans for signing day. Sign some papers, say a few thank yous and start preparation for the next step in life.

"I'm not planning much. Just to say a few Thank Yous and sign the papers.
