Around the Big East
Penn State and Syracuse are close to completing a deal to resume their football series, the Syracuse Post-Standard reported.
The two schools have been talking for more than a year and are nearing agreement on a two-game home-and-away series to be played near the end of this decade, possibly in 2008 and 2009, the newspaper said yesterday.

The search for a permanent athletic director at Temple finally appears to be reaching a conclusion.
Several sources have indicated that the two finalists will be on campus early next week for final interviews. They are De Paul AD Bill Bradshaw, who previously held that position at La Salle in the early 1980s, and Kevin Anderson, the Associate Athletic Director for Development at Cal-Berkeley.

The biggest change in elevation in this country can't be found in the Rockies. It occurs annually during the first week of August when incoming freshmen report to their new teams. For at least two years, the players have been lauded for their talent, hounded for their opinions and placed upon the pedestal that media attention provides. They are told that they are a gift to football from the good Lord above.
