Big Day for Men and Women

Both the men's and women's Rutgers basketball teams have big dates set for the first weekend of March. While the women enjoy the fruits of their perfect BE season by battling Villanova (19-9, 9-7) in a Quarterfinal-round BET contest at Hartford, CT, the men try to extend their season, needing a victory at St. John's (12-14, 5-10) to reach the BE's postseason tournament.

The Rutgers men (16-12, 6-9) travel to St. John's (12-14, 5-10) this afternoon with a tipoff set for 2:00 PM EST. The game will be televised locally by the MSG network.

The Scarlet Knights and Red Storm battled one another earlier this season with St. John's coming out on top by a 54-51 margin. St. John's has won two of its previous three games versus Rutgers.

A Rutgers victory against the Red Storm will secure a Big East postseason berth for the Scarlet Knights.

Below are the pre-game notes as released by the Rutgers University Sports Information Department.
