Over the last 15 years, Piscataway High School has produced numerous division 1A players. The school has sent players to program such as Miami, Maryland, Boston College, Boise State, Rutgers, and Ohio State over this period. This year, Piscataway has two of the state's best players in the form of Anthony Davis and Tony Logan.
State of Rutgers had an opportunity to discuss Tony Logan's recruitment with him.
Logan plays QB for Piscataway. Last season, he threw for 1,500 yards with 8 TDs and rushed for 500 yards with 5TDs. On the collegiate level, he will likely use his 4.39 speed to play WR or DB. However, Logan would prefer to play WR or QB.
To date, Tony Logan has received offers from Rutgers, Maryland, Notre Dame, Penn State, and Virginia with strong interest from over 30 more schools. Some of the schools that Logan mentioned that are among the schools that are paying the most interest are USC, Syracuse, Florida, Florida State, and Temple. Even though it is early in the recruiting process, Logan has started to develop a list of favorites. The schools that have emerged from the numerous schools recruiting him are Rutgers, USC, Maryland, Notre Dame, and Florida State - in the order of favorites.
Logan has the following to say about his favorites:
- Rutgers - "I like Rutgers a lot. They are like my family. I am close with all the coaches and staff, so everything is great with me there".
- USC - They are "talking to me and want me to come out there. I like the school a lot."
- Maryland - "another school that I like a lot. I go up there a lot and I am tight with the coaches"
- Notre Dame - "Charlie Weis is really from this area. He heard a lot about me and likes my potential and I like the school."
- Florida State - "just a really great school".
As one of Logan's goals, he wanted to be named as one of the best players in not only New Jersey but the nation. He is on his way to achieving this goal with MSG recognizing him as one of the Top 10 players in the state of New Jersey. As the next step in him achieving this goal, in order to be among the players selected for the U.S. All-American Bowl, he will attend the Scout All-American Combine. Regarding his impending performance, he stated "I am going to come there and blow the top off, so they have no choice but to invite me". He will also attend the Nike camp at Penn State along with the Elite Combine. As for camps, he plans on attending camps at Maryland, Rutgers, and USC.
