Mike Meggett, 6-1 1/2, 205, 4.5, S, Fort Hamilton
A Boston College is offer probably on the way.
Boston College - "I went to their camps. I liked the coaches and the area. I feel I have a great opportunity to play early."
Maryland - "The coach that is recruiting me has a great interest in me. I am interested in them due to the season that they had last year. I am going down there to see what it is like."
Syracuse - "They are a home town school. It is a good football town. I want to see what it is like up at the dome."
Michigan State - "I have a good relationship with the coach that is recruiting me. I have known him for so long. I am going to go down to their camp and see how things will go."
Who's recruiting him the hardest?
"All four of my top schools."
Will he make and early decision or a late one?
"I am planning on making a decision before my season begins."
"To visit the four schools who are my favorites."
Mike feels frustrated by the lack of offers to date but is determined to show what he can do. He is using the lack of early offers as a motivator to make him work harder. He is now 6-1, 211 and he impressed folks at the BC camp when he ran a 4.5 at the camp in the rain with a sprained ankle. He is hoping that his ankle will heal by the Maryland camp since he is certain he can run a 4.4 on healthy wheels. Interestingly, Mike's size, speed and hitting ability have colleges now projecting him as a linebacker. Last year at safety Mike had 81 solo tackles including 9 for loss. He had 4 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries and 4 interceptions including one he brought back 60 yards for a touchdown.
