I received this note about Athlon's preseason edition:
"The Preview has Charles Tre Timbers of Ocean Twp HS as one of the top D-back recruits in the country. It may list the top 20 or 25 and he is among them."

Marcus White of Chicago and Larry Turner of Milledgeville, Ga., are promising frontcourt players on the open market. White was released from his DePaul letter of intent after coach Pat Kennedy resigned. Turner, though he now has a qualifying test score, was denied admission to Georgia because of charges of improprieties on an ACT exam he took. Having previously lost 6-9 recruit Omari Peterkin to Notre Dame, Connecticut is pursuing both players. White also is looking at Texas A&M, Miami and Seton Hall. Turner has a list including Alabama, Ohio State and Oklahoma.

It's all coming together for the men's basketball program at the University of Pittsburgh, and the fans will be coming in record droves to watch the Panthers next season. The opening of the $100 million Petersen Events Center on campus and the promise of a team that could challenge for a national championship have combined to make Pitt basketball one of the hottest tickets in town. With the start of the season six months away -- Nov. 23 against Duquesne -- there are 2,000 tickets per game available in the 12,500-seat center.

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) - University of Miami Director of Athletics Paul Dee today announced that the Hurricanes football team will play a two-game, home-and-home series with Texas A&M to be played in 2007 and 2008. "We're very excited about the upcoming series with Texas A&M," said head football coach Larry Coker. "A matchup of Miami versus Texas A&M is sure to generate plenty of national attention as both these programs traditionally play at a high level. Also, we have a lot of fans in Texas as we usually have several players on our team from the state and this will give us a chance to play before our fans in that area."

On the new site:
Mike, I am indifferent about the new site. You guys sure did put in a lot of time over the years and are reaping the benefits now, hopefully. But I have to say I liked the old site better because it felt as if it was 'our' underground club. Aesthetically speaking, I liked the old football player charging at me and the black and red colors on the old site. This site is a little too commercialized and I think if possible, you should try and bring back some of the old flavor. Also, and maybe its me, there doesn't seem to be as much information on the new site as compared to the old one. I know its a down time part of the year for news but again maybe its just the new format. Best of luck with everything and will remain a loyal follower.
