Kevin Brown talks about his recruitment

Football programs on all levels pursue good DLs. New York City has not been the "hot bed" for these types of players but this year Gotham has one of the best DLs in the metro area in the form of Kevin Brown. Check out what he has to say about his recruitment to date.

“I visited the Panthers during their junior day and I loved it,” stated stout defensive tackle Kevin Brown (6-foot-4 inches, 285 pounds) from Canarsie High School in Brooklyn, NY. “I went down to Pittsburgh with my teammate Chris Golding (6-foot-1 inches, 200 pounds). My coach told me I have an offer from the Panthers. They are going to come to my school at some point to meet with me.”
Brown has been a three-year starter for Canarsie High School. He started on both sides of the line (offensive and defensive tackle). Kevin is capable of bench pressing 315 pounds and squatting 580 pounds. He claims to run a 4.95 forty-yard dash.

“I have played defensive end and tackle. I prefer defensive end but most people think I have outgrown the position. I met Coach (Charlie) Partridge and Coach (Curtis) Bray when I went to visit Pitt. They talked about their defensive scheme and I really like it. Pitt has an aggressive style of defense that I like.”

Pitt (offer), Rutgers (offer), Maryland, Stanford, Colorado, Michigan State, Buffalo, Syracuse and Boston College have been in contact with Smith.

When asked about his strengths, he stated, “I have a high football IQ. I heavily study film. I spend hours studying the player I’m going to go up against. I’m aggressive and smart on the football field.”

“I’m set to go to Pitt’s summer football camp. I had planned on waiting until all my visits were over before making a decision, but I could commit to a school if I really like it.
