Ruffin Ready for Combine

One of last year's top Junior WRs in the Empire State, Chris Ruffin, has been working hard this offseason. By way of Wadleigh Secondary School in Harlem, NY, Ruffin will be on hand for the All-American Combine to be held at Rutgers University later this month.

After reeling in 40 catches for 733 yards and 10 TDs last year, Chris Ruffin [5-foot-11 and 175-pounds] began to draw the attention of local and national schools. Though his first offer has not yet come through, Ruffin continues to hear from many schools.

"Central Florida has shown some serious interest," said Judy Jones, Ruffin's mother in a recent interview with

"Unofficial invites from Pitt and Temple have also come in. They want him to visit with the staff and see the campus. He wants to take a trip down to Pitt," continued Mrs. Jones.

Besides UCF and Pitt, Arkansas, Florida State, and Texas Tech have continued to send mail, including Junior Day invitations and camping invitations for the upcoming summer.

Is Rutgers still involved?

The flux of information from Rutgers, Ruffin's mother indicated, has decreased in recent weeks. Nevertheless, the state university of New Jersey continues to keep in touch.

"Rutgers has been sending mail also. It's been some handwritten mail from Coach Schiano saying that we're thinking about you and you're on our radar and continue to work hard and that type of thing. As a matter of fact we got something from Coach Flood just the other day," stated Mrs. Jones.

Schools such as UCF, FSU, Alabama, and Texas Tech top Ruffin's list right now, though staying closer to home, for example at a school such as Rutgers, is also a viable option.

For now, Ruffin's main focus is on his continued improvement in the classroom and on the field. On the field, Ruffin has been training with his team three times per week and has focused on improving his strength and speed.

Ruffin will be on hand at the All-American Combine held at Rutgers University on April 23rd.
