GOOD NEWS, BAD NEWS
St. Patrick's of Elizabeth won the Metro Classic this past weekend at Seton Hall University edging St. Benedict's of Newark. The Celtics join South East Regional Champion, Stonehill, Reddan, Georgia and Midwest Champion, Maywood, Proviso East, Illinois, in the final eight for the AND 1 HIGH SCHOOL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. The finals will take place at the Palestra on July 12-14, 2002. Potential Rutgers recruit, Bashir Mason, had an outstanding tournament and scored 17 in the finals, that is the good news. Mason, a point guard from St. Benedicts, is being recruited by RU, LaSalle and Marquette among others. The bad news is that his play at this tournament will likely bring more suitors.
