Greg Hill, 6-2, 183, 4.49, WR, Long Branch HS
Despite missing three games last season with a groin injury Greg Hill still pulled in an impressive 25 catches for 650 yards. On defense he was equally impressive. Greg had 47 tackles and 3 interceptions.Greg looks forward to an even better season. "We can go to the playoffs this year," he notes about last year's 5-5 Long Branch team that brings a lot of talent back but he is also looking forward to his prospect for attending college at one of his two favorites, Virginia Tech and Rutgers.
Greg has an offer from Tech but not yet one from Rutgers.
He had a chance, however, to impress the Rutgers coaches at the recent camp held there. Greg bench pressed 185 pounds 16 times, 225 pounds 11 times and had a top bench press of 275 pounds which is impressive for a wide out. Greg also added a super 37 inch vertical leap ("I can do better than that, I got off to a bad start on the jump, "he noted.)
As to his two favorites he notes the following.
Greg likes Tech and notes, "I like their offense, they'll pass and they'll run they don't just do one thing. They mix it up well and I like their coach", referring to Frank Beamer. Rutgers is also high on Greg's list especially after he attended the recent camp in Piscataway. "The camp was really nice," he said. "I loved the dorms. They had a lot of coaches available. In most camps it is one coach for every 20 players. Rutgers had coaches in from other schools and there was one coach for every five players. I love the Rutgers head coach. He is really cool. He is like a friend as much as he is a coach. I like the receivers coach also, coach Hazel."
So far in addition to the offer from Virginia Tech, Greg has offers from Iowa and West Virginia and interest from a number of schools including UCLA, Wisconsin, N.C. State, Virginia, UCF, Hawaii, Syracuse, Boston College, Pittsburgh and Penn State.
Rutgers, however, has an advantage with Greg. He is a good friend of Rutgers' recruit Tre Timbers who grew up just around the block.
Will Greg be wearing Scarlet after next season? Check back as we'll be updating his recruitment later this summer.
