Interest in Catalina Soaring

Cody Catalina, by way of Greensburg Central Catholic HS (Greensburg, PA), has seen his stock skyrocket since the early evaluation period got underway.

Cody Catalina, a 6'4" 205 lb QB from Greensburg, Pa is a player who has recently seen his recruitment sky-rocket. "Recruiting is going real well. At first, a lot of schools had liked my tape, but I had no offers. Then I went on the combine circuit. I went to Scout, Nike, Elite, and the Metro Combine in Pittsburgh. After the Elite combine, offers have come in from Syracuse, Rutgers, Vanderbilt, New Hampshire, Delaware, Temple, Buffalo and Akron".

While he is happy with the attention he is getting, he hopes that any schools interested in recruiting him, get on him now. "I am happy with my offers, but one would always hope for more offers. If I do get more offers, I hope to get them soon, so I can finalize my decision on summer camps. I only want to camp at places that have offered me. I hope to go to several camps in June, and have a decision made by Mid July. I would like to make a decision early, so I can focus on my senior season and our team goals of winning a state championship".

Catalina's Greensberg club made it to the qualifying finals for state last year, but lost a heart-breaker 24-20 to eventual state champion South Park. "I am team player and getting to States is very important to me. To play in States is the goal of any kid in Western Pennsylvania"

Catalina feels his team has a lot of talent returning this year and can make a serious run at States. His team consists of two other players with Division 1 offers. "Nick Sukay's recruitment has simply exploded. He has so many opportunities and while we have both discussed the possibility of playing together in college, there is a good chance that won't happen. I know he had a good time at both Rutgers and Syracuse, but he has a lot of opportunities. He does not know in which direction he is leaning at this point. We also have a TB/DB Max Suter who is up to six offers right now, and Syracuse is one of the schools also in the mix with him".

Catalina has thus far visited Syracuse, Rutgers and Akron on unofficial visits. At these 3 schools, he has been impressed with the coaching staff, facilities, and location.

Syracuse- I have a real nice relationship with Coach White. He is an excellent recruiter and has been successful before. He is also a real easy guy to get along with. The Syracuse campus was also very impressive.

Rutgers-The facilities at Rutgers were outstanding. The coaching staff has been great. I am being recruited by Joe Susan, and I don't have enough good words to say about him. He is simply a real nice guy. I also like the location of the school, with it not being so far from home".

Akron- The teams from the MAC conference have always played tough football. Plus, Akron is only about 2 hours from my home. The school and coaches there were great as well.
