A name that college fans might not be familiar with is Al-majid Hutchins. This 5'11"-180lbs CB is known for his aggressiveness and his willingness to jump routes for the chance to make a big play. This coupled with his 4.5 speed in the forty enabled him to be named second-team All-State while registering 62 tackles to go along with 2 INTs. These attributes have attracted the attention of Connecticut, Michigan, Virginia, and Hofstra along with an offer from Rutgers.
More offers will depend upon Hutchins' score on the SAT that he took over the past few weeks. Many of these schools will review these scores before tendering an offer.
Provided that Hutchins obtains the appropriate SAT scores, he anticipates getting a number of new offers along with grabbing the attention of a number of other schools. However, there is one school that remains on top of his list. That school is his home state university - Rutgers. Hutchins has developed a good relationship with the Rutgers coaches and a number of the players. As a result, he remains in contact with them and feels at home at the university. Hutchins is not alone with his attraction to the school. His parents like the proximity along with the facilities and the school's academics.
He feels the following about the other schools:
UConn - "I have not had a chance to visit the school but I grew up watching the school."
Virginia - "They just started to recruit me and invited me to visit the school."
During the summer, he plans on camping at both of the schools.
If Hutchins has any preference for where he will play, he would like to play in the Big East. This is due to the proximity of the schools along with the level of play. But he would like to go to the school that provides him with the best chance to play early. Therefore, early playing time is a big part in his decision as he states "I want to start as a freshman if possible".
As for a final decision, Hutchins plans on making visits during the season and making a decision in the middle of the season. Check back at StateofRutgers.com for updates on Hutchins along with many of the best prospects in the nation.
