Focus '07: Pompton Lakes WR

OJ Woodard is a 6-foot-4 and 195-pound WR prospect by way of Pompton Lakes HS (Pompton Lakes, NJ). Due to his size and speed Woodard has been receiving attention from a number of local, regional and nation schools.

Standing at 6-foot-4 and 195-pounds OJ Woodard, by way of Pompton Lakes HS put himself on the recruiting radar of many college coaches with a solid performance at the recent Elite College Combine. At the time of this interview Woodard was under the weather and while he could not be reached for comment Mrs. Woodard was kind enough to discuss her son's recruitment with

"I think he did very well. He ran a 4.5-second 40-yard dash," stated Mrs. Woodard.

A track runner as well, Woodard has broken his school's record for the 100X (10.7-sec), 200X, and 200m high hurdles (21.9-sec). Additionally, Woodard's academic efforts have placed the Pompton Lakes star on his school's honor roll.

Currently, Woodard has not yet received any written offers though Syracuse has verbally offered and all indications are that a written offer will be extended. Other schools currently recruiting Woodard include Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Rutgers, Connecticut, and Boston College.

Though Woodard doesn't have any favorites at this time Mrs. Woodard indicated that her son may prefer going away to school. "We're trying to leave it up to him though and we haven't really dealt with it [the recruiting process].

Woodard caught 35 passes for 659 yards and 10 touchdowns as a Junior. He ran for 205 yards and one touchdown on way to earning second team Associated Press All-State honors as a junior.
