The drawn-out pursuit of Phil Jones, one of the country's top unsigned big men, took another turn this week. According to sources close to Jones, Florida State is now involved with the 6-foot-10 native of Brooklyn, and the ACC program has extended a scholarship offer.
This latest development comes on the heels of Florida State's withdrawl of its scholarship offer to seven-footer Jonathan Kreft after Kreft's arrest on drug charges on May 18. The athletic lefthander was supposed to contribute in the post as a freshman.
Indiana, Rutgers, Seton Hall, and UConn are also in the hunt for Jones, according to a May 30 article by Scout.com's Jeff Goodman. However, it remains to be seen how UConn's signing of 7-foot-3 Hasheem Thabeet on June 2 will affect their involvement with Jones.
