Dan Mazan, 6-4, 295,OL, 4.9, Carteret High School
Dan has picked up offers from Kansas State, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Colorado, Indiana, Iowa and many others, he already had offers from Syracuse, Virginia, Maryland, Rutgers, Vanderbilt, Penn State, Wake Forest and Temple the last time we spoke.
Right now he has twenty four in all.
Syracuse - "Good football program, good graduation rate, I like the coaches. I visited the school and it has a nice campus. The dorms are beautiful. They run the ball and that's another positive"
Penn State - "Prestigious football, good academics. I heard the phrase 'Happy Valley', it's a good atmosphere and I have heard good things about it from people I know."
Iowa - "They are working themselves up and they play in the Big 10. They play someone good each week. Every week they are playing a ranked team. Right now I am thinking Big 10 or Big 12. I like that style of football. Bang 'em upfront, physical football."
Colorado - "Basically the same as Iowa"
UCLA - "I know their offense is different from what I want, but I know it is a good school and football wise they are always up there. I went to California and I loved the area. A real nice place."
Days at camp
"No camps. I just wanted to get ready for my high school year."
Will he make and early decision or a late one?
"I'll probably wait it out till the end. It is the next four years of my life. I don't want to rush it and make a bad decision. I'll take all my visits and then decide."
"Getting ready for the coming season. A lot of running and weight lifting."
Last season on offense Dan threw 60 pancake blocks (6 per game)! On defense Dan had 58 tackles, 10 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries and 5 passes batted down. That performance was good enough for Second Team All State, First Team All Area, First Team All County, First Team All Conference, and First Team All Division.
Dan is regarded as one of the top offensive linemen on the east coast this year.
"I don't rule anyone out. I'll be watching how they do on the field."
