Catching Up with Devin Ebanks at ABCD Camp

One player who will be at or near the top of the national rankings for small forward prospects in the class of 2008 is New York native Devin Ebanks. This outstanding prospect, who will play the next two years at The Patterson School in North Carolina, is one player we have kept a close eye on at the ABCD camp.

What schools is this 5 star prospect interested in, and does Rutgers have a shot? SOR caught up with him to get the latest.

Devin Ebanks says that he is wide open right now in his recruiting process, but that the schools from the Big East and the ACC are his favorites right now. He states that he'd like to go to a school with a winning tradition and is looking for the opportunity to play right away (which should probably happen wherever he goes). He did indicate that he is looking for a team that plays a fast-paced offense, which is understandable, considering how well this lean, athletic forward runs the floor.

Ebanks states that he is happy with the way that the camp has gone for him so far. "I proved that I can handle the ball", he said. "People already know that I can shoot." Indeed, the versatile forward displayed good ball-handling skills that will only continue to improve over time.

So does Rutgers have a shot with someone who will be one of the nation's most heavily-recruited players? Apparently they do.

The Scarlet Knights have already offered Ebanks a scholarship, and one thing that works in Rutgers favor is newly-hired assistant coach (and former Rutgers player) Craig Carter:

"I have a strong relationship with Coach Carter", said Ebanks. "He and my father are close and have known each other for awhile."

Stay tuned, Rutgers fans.
