Football Recruiting

In the next week or so, Rutgers will be hoping for a positive response from the Judge. Paterson Catholic linebacker Rashawn Ricks is prepared to commit to the Scarlet Knights, but needs the OK of his father, Jeff Judge. "Rashawn's definitely sold on Rutgers," Paterson Catholic coach Benjie Wimberley said Friday. "He's already made his five visits [Virginia, Boston College, Syracuse, Maryland, and Rutgers] and he's even been to Rutgers three times. His father just wants to go down there one more time."

As reported first on this site, Ricks indicated some weeks ago that he would verbal to RU but decided to take more time to think it through. Last year the 6-3, 235 linebacker had over 100 tackles, 3 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery and an impressive 15 tackles for loss. That performance garnered All County, All Area and All League honors. He is a former team mate of Rutgers tackle Devon Clark.

"This has been a dream year for me," said Brittingham, a Rutgers recruit. "I was aware of the Big 33, but I never really worried about it or even thought much about it. To (my coach, Mark Schmidt), it was a pretty big deal. Now I know why."
