Joe Mele, LB, 6-2, 220, 4.68, 30 inch vertical leap, Manasquan H.S.
"I don't have any offers as of yet I am being recruiting by Boston College, Illinois, Northwestern and Rutgers and they are all saying the same thing. They are waiting to see me play in the fall. I am looking forward to it. Illinois told me that they are going to recruit me very heavily but they want to see how I develop."
Current leaders: (not in any order)
Boston College -" I really like the coaching staff and they are guys I could play for. I love the area and the academics and the alumni."
Illinois - "I am being recruiting by the defensive coordinator who I really like. A good friend Matt Maddox plays there. I like the Big 10."
Northwestern -"They're in the Big 10, they are near Chicago and they are a top 10 school academically."
Rutgers - "I like the fact that it is only 45 minutes from home, I like the area, I like the coaching staff and my dad played there"
West Point -"I like the campus and it would be a great honor to graduate from West Point. The academics are so high and when you have graduated from there the opportunities are tremendous."
Days at camp
"I went to the Boston College camp and I loved it."
Will he make and early decision or a late one?
"It depends on who offers. Most likely I'll make my decision after the season. I'd like to take my time and take a couple of visits."
"I am life guarding and doing a lot of running. I am lifting four days a week and working with a speed coach."
As an outside linebacker last year Joe's stats were impressive. He had 110 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 interception, 4 forced fumbles and 8 passes knocked down. That performance won him all county honors in Monmouth County last season and this year Joe will get a chance to really pump up those stats even more as he'll be moved to the middle linebacker position.
