Rutgers has made it a habit of finding diamonds in the rough - players with little to no Division 1A attention but turn into productive players. This year's New Jersey version appears to be Harry Flaherty. The 6'3"-220lbs athlete has offers from Rutgers, Delaware, and Army with heavy interest from Richmond, Duke, Princeton, and Penn. Since he is pursuing more division 1A scholarship offers, he is in no hurry to make a decision.
Although a decision can be expected at the end of the football season, Flaherty does have three favorites among the schools that are showing him interest. He has the following comments on these schools.
- Rutgers - "a program rising rapidly with great facilities and coaching staff; and it's close to home"
- Army - "has legendary coach Bobby Ross, beautiful campus with a lot of tradition and is also on the rise"
- Princeton - "the #1 school in America and is also close to home. my three uncles played there and the coaches have shown a lot of interest"
In his pursuit of more division 1A scholarship offers, Flaherty has been working
hard to improve himself as a football player. His first step towards this goal
is to improve his 40-yard dash in which he has successfully done by lowering
it from a 4.86 to 4.78 seconds. He has also spent countless hours in the weight
Flaherty holds better than a 3.8 GPA. Therefore, academics are important to him. Like many of these type of players, he would like to obtain an offer from Duke.Even with a Duke offer, he will maintain his timetable for making a decision. State of Rutgers will be there to report on his decision.
