Focus '07: Amara Kamara

After solidifying himself as one of the top LB prospects in the state of New Jersey after recording 90 tackles, 16 sacks, and 23 tackles for a loss, as a Junior, Amara Kamara entered the summer season with high expectations. With one offer in hand, the 6-feet and 205-pounder by way of Weequahic HS, now realizes the importance of his senior year.

Amara Kamara stands in at 6-feet and 205 pounds. Kamara secured his first offer, from Temple, this past spring, but subsequent offers have remained elusive.

"I haven't heard much besides from Temple," stated the Garden State prospect. However, Kamara is still receiving mail on a consistent basis from a number of schools including Maryland, Connecticut, Ohio State, South Florida, and Rutgers.

"I thought I had a good camp season. I went down to Maryland's camp and I also went to the Rutgers camp."

"The Rutgers camp was great. I ran a 4.5-40 and I jumped a 9-foot-9-inch [standing broad jump]," stated Kamara.

His frame stating he is seemingly destined for the MLB spot at the next level, Kamara states that colleges are primarily recruiting him for the LB spot, without specifying an exact position.

A two-way standout at LB and TE for Weequahic HS, Kamara states that he currently has Temple at the top of his favorites list. However, schools like Maryland, Rutgers and Uconn, could make things interesting for Kamara should they tender an offer.

"Rutgers is a good school. I met with Coach [Schiano] earlier [at the Rutgers camp] and he was just telling me that it is a long process. As long as it's a good school and as long as I have a chance to play, I'm willing to go anywhere."
