Entire East Coast to See RU vs UNC on 9/2

ABC will televise the Rutgers-North Carolina football game on Saturday, Sept. 2 to 34 percent of the country, including the entire east coast. Viewers in the major television markets on the east coast – New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C. will be able to watch the game.

The game will also be carried by ABC affiliates in 20 different states, including 95 percent of the state of Florida. Rutgers has 22 players from the Sunshine State on its roster.

The Scarlet Knights are coming off one of the best seasons in school history after finishing third in the BIG EAST in 2005. Rutgers ended the season 7-5 overall and played in the Insight Bowl.

Last season, the Insight Bowl posted the top rating for a college football game on ESPN in the New York market in ratings history for ESPN. The Insight Bowl was the fourth-highest rated bowl game televised by ESPN nationally.

Rutgers will have five games broadcast nationally on ESPN and ESPN2 in 2006 and an additional national television appearance on CSTV at Navy. In all, nine games are already scheduled for television this season, with all 12 expected to be televised.
