SOR Top 40 New Jersey prospects

The 2006 New Jersey class is among the deepest groups of college prospects in years. SOR has compiled a list of the 40 best prospects in the state.

1 Anthony Davis  At 6'6"-320lbs, he possesses exceptional agility and quickness for a man of his size. At the point of attack, Davis is dominant as shown by his 60+ pancakes as a junior. His current favorites are Miami (Fl), Florida State, Ohio State, USC, Georgia, LSU, and Rutgers.
2 Mike Ragone Ragone is basically a wide reciever with tight end size. His size and speed creates match up problems for defenses. LBs are too slow to guard him and DBs are too small. Committed to Notre Dame.
3 Justin Trattou His 4.7 speed combined with this 6'4"-250lbs frame makes Trattou a terror from his DE position. As a junior, he earned Associated Press All-State honors along with registering 86 tackles and 9.5 sacks. Committed to Notre Dame.
4 Duval Kamara Big WRs appear to be the trend. Kamara is not your typical big WR. His 4.45 speed allows him to take defenders deep while turning short catches into big plays. Committed to Notre Dame.
5 Keith Newell Correction: At 6'6"-280 with 5.0 forty speed, he was dominant from his DE position. As a junior, Newell registered 7 sacks, 3 fumbles caused 8 recovered, and 18 solo tackles. In college, his athleticism and speed could make him a dominant LT. Committed to Rutgers.
6 Manny Abreu Abreu is among those rare athletes with the ability to play LB, WR, or DB at 6'4"-235lbs. As a junior, Abreu recorded 85 tackles, six sacks, two fumble recoveries, an interception and blocked three kicks. His favorites include Boston College, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, and Rutgers.
7 Will Thompson Thompson is a classic LB, who runs from sideline to sideline to make plays. He is an extremely physical player, who's dominance prompts offenses to run away from his side of the field. Committed to Boston College.
8 Tony Logan Logan is an outstanding athlete, who is very versatile. In high school, he plays QB and DB. As a junior, Logan threw for 1,500 yards with ten touchdowns and rushed for 500 yards with five touchdowns on the ground.Logan can play a number of different positions. In college, Logan is likely to play CB or WR.Committed to Maryland.
9 Wayne Thomas At 6'6"-285lbs, Thomas is an overpowering DT who is strong at the point of attack. He also has the speed and quickness to make plays down the line of scrimmage. Committed to Rutgers.
10 Matt Simms Has a good QB pedigree with both his father and brother who logged time in the NFL. Simms has a strong arm with a quick release. Committed to Louisville.
11 Alex Silvestro A hybrid OLB/DE. Silvestro is a long and lean 6'4"-220lbs with 4.7 speed and enough athleticism to rush the passer and make plays down the line of scrimmage. He holds offers from Minnesota, Rutgers, Iowa, Cincinnati, Duke, and Temple.
12 Al-Majid Hutchins A true CB with 4.5 speed and an aggressive way of playing the position. As a junior, he registered 5 INTs and 50 tackles. Committed to Rutgers.
13 Mason Robinson An explosive RB with an extra gear, great hips, and is very fluid in the open field. As a junior, he ran for over 1,229 yards and scored 12 rushing touchdowns. Has offers from Virginia, Boston College, Michigan State, Rutgers, Temple, Iowa, Minnesota, Vanderbilt, and Colorado.
14 Evan Rodriguez Possesses 4.5 speed, a 35 inch vertical leap, and great agility. As a DB, he has great range and closing speed. In the right college system, he can be a standout player. He holds offers from Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Cincinnati and Temple.
15 Ben Pooler A big LB with 4.56 speed. He had enough athleticism to rush for 756 yards from his RB position while registering 50 tackles and 5 sacks on defense. Committed to Maryland.
16 Malcolm Harris A very elusive RB with good top end speed and shiftiness to make defenders miss. He rushed for 1,600 yards and 24 TDs. Has offers from Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Maryland, Purdue and Minnesota.
17 Devon Ramsay As a junior, he was limited by injuries which had him participate in only five games. Even with his limited action, he ran for 400 yards and 5 TDs. Committed to Boston College.
18 Matt Boyer A standout player as a DE and TE. As a DE, he dominates the line of scrimmage. He holds offers from Minnesota, Cincinnati, Northwestern, Connecticut, Syracuse, and Rutgers.
19 Shariff Harris A two-way standout at RB and LB. In limited action as a junior, he rushed for 400 yards. Holds offers from Minnesota, Maryland, and Wisconsin.
20 Al-Ghaffar Lane A rangy DE who comes off the edge with great speed and quickness. As a junior, Lane racked up 74 tackles, 14 sacks, and 16 tackles for a loss  Holds offers from Syracuse, Rutgers, Cincinnati, Duke, and Purdue.
21 Desmond Stapleton At 6'5"-290lbs, he possesses good mobility and a tireless work ethic on the field. Committed to Rutgers.
