Sheard watched Rutgers this weekend

Broward County's Jabaal Sheard remains one of the more important recruits remaining for Rutgers this season. Sheard, who is having an outstanding season as a rush end, could provide an immediate presence along the Scarlet Knight defensive line next season.

Jabaal Sheard, from Hollywood Hills, Florida, remains one of the more coveted DE prospects on the Rutgers board. "I keep in regular contact with coach Rizzi and I know that they want me up there. I am really interested in getting up there for a visit. I would love to go for a game to check out the environment, but my games are on either Friday night or Saturday, so it looks I may have to wait till the end of the year to take my trip".

Two other schools also remain in hot pursuit of Sheard. "Pittsburgh and South Carolina are the two other places showing me a lot of interest. I am looking to set up visits with those 2 schools as well".

But in lieu of not being able to see the Scarlet Knights in person, Sheard watched them play Illinois this weekend.

"I caught the first half. It was kind of funny. That defense just put those guys on lock down. They were impressive".

Another school that Sheard has publicly shown a strong interest in is the University of Miami. Though UM has not offered, they remain in regular contact with Sheard. "Coach Cristobal and I speak every so often. I went to the UM-FSU game this past week and it was a great game and environment".

On the season, Sheard's Hollywood Hills team is 3-0. On the year, Sheard has registered six sacks thus far. "I am having a good year, but it is about the team doing well. We have to continue to play well week–in and week-out, but we do have our sights on St Thomas Aquinas. We play them in 4-weeks. That game will mean a lot to us this year".
