RU-Ohio Post-Game Press Conference

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights improved to 3-0 with a 24-7 win over the Ohio Bobcats. While there were some bright spots and concerns, overall Greg Schiano seemed pleased with the team's performance. These are some of his thoughts he shared with the media.

Opening statement: "Good to be 3-0. This was a tough game. Ohio played well. We did what we had to do to win the game".

On Ray Rice: "Ray silently had a very good day. I did not realize Ray was at 190 yards. I was not aware of it".

On wanting Ray Rice to gain 10 more for 200 yards: "We are not about that".

On Mike Teel: "Mike did not have his best day. He seemed to not get into rhythm. But Kenny Dorsey had days like that. Their defense played well. They took some chances and made plays. But Ray capitalized on those chances and carried us".

On Mike Teel's first interception: "Mike made a mistake. He could not see the backer"

On missing Tim Brown deep: "He has touch. I have seen him hit those plenty in practice".

On giving thoughts of playing Jabu Lovelace over Mike Teel: "We thought of getting him reps at the end. Mike got out of whack and we wanted him to play through it".

On the offense: "Ray and the offensive lines were positives. We need to get the WR's going. We have to sort out some things that didn't go right. How and why? It was just not Mike Teel, but all of us as a unit.

On the defense: "I am very pleased with the defense. They were put in some really tough spots and responded. Every chance Ohio had, we kept meeting the challenge. The defense is getting more comfortable with what we are doing. They have a look in the eye that says lets go out and do it.

On the special teams: "We were hot and cold. We had the block and made the punter think when he was back there. On Manny's penalty, I thought it was a running in to the punter, not roughing. But we'll have to go back and see the tape."

On the team: "We want to get all 3 phases of the game to click. We got off to a good start. But we are a work in progress. This 2006 team knows this is a one shot deal. This is about now.

On getting by Ohio as a trap game: "I am pleased with the way we prepared. The kids compete and prepared hard in practice"

On the media attention: "With more success comes more legitimacy. The interest level continues to grow. It's exciting".
