Guinn looks to have big game vs. Northwestern

Tonight's game between Columbus and Miami Northwestern HS could be one of the more hotly contested battles in South Florida this year. It will also showcase two of SOR's favorite players this recruiting season, Matt Guinn and Antwain Easterling. We had a chance to speak to Guinn to get his thoughts on this contest.

Matt Guinn and the Columbus Explorers are in for the fight of their lives against Miami Northwestern tonight. Northwestern HS, which has literally destroyed every opponent they have faced this year, is looking for revenge after Columbus upset Northwestern 28-21 last year. This Northwestern team is heavy favorites, but Guinn likes his team's chances. "I know people are thinking that they are going to take us, but we are extremely excited and have a good game plan. We feel good about this game".

In order for Columbus to pull an upset, offensively QB Chris Masson must catch fire and connect with WRs Guinn and Kyle McDowell, and defensively DT Jarvis Givins and LB Johnny Daniels must find ways to control star RB and Rutgers recruit Antwain Easterling. "Chris has played well and we have some weapons. Offensively, we have to go out and execute. Defensively, Jarvis and Johnny have been great. They need to come up big".

In addition to this being an important game on the high school level, there will be college recruiters at the game to impress. "Demo [Coach Demarest] called my coach and said that he'll be at the game. I hope I can show him something that he likes. Rutgers is the place I want to be at".

On the year, Guinn's numbers have been diminished by a shoulder separation in Game 2, but he now feels 100% and ready to go this week. In last week's contest, he had 5 catches for 82 yards.

"The shoulder feels fine right now and I feel ready to go out and make plays".
