Ibrahima Thomas of The Stoneridge School in California is a busy young man these days. The versatile 7 footer has started taking his official visits, and this past weekend he was a visitor at Rutgers. SOR spoke recently with the Stoneridge Director - Mike Mahoney - to find out how Thomas enjoyed his visit to the Banks.
"He was ecstatic," said Mike Mahoney. "Everything about the trip was tremendous - the coaching staff, the players, the administration, the hospitality he was shown. He really enjoyed himself." Mahoney also added that another aspect of Thomas' visit that was an additional bonus for him was the chance to see an old friend: former teammate, fellow Senegal native, and current Rutgers
freshman Hamady N'diaye. "It was fantastic for Ibrahima to see Hamady again," said Mahoney.
Mahoney said that "RU could very well be the place for him, but he is going to take all of his visits and decide on the 15th of November." Thomas still has a visit planned for Oklahoma State on Oct. 27-29. He also has a visit planned for Auburn from November 11th through the 13th. He is expected to announce two days later.
Rutgers fans have good reason to be cautiously optimistic. Mahoney stated that when Thomas returned from his RU visit, "He was on cloud 9". Now RU fans are hoping that come November 15th, it will be Ibrahima Thomas' turn to return the favor, and to send them there.
