In a typical year, Florida produces over 200 division 1A prospects. Many of these prospects' names are not known to the general recruiting public until December. Jhermel Knight appears to be one of these prospects. At the Florida State camp, he impressed the coaching staff with a 4.38 in the forty. This 5'10"-185lbs speedster from Dunbar H.S has heavy interest from Florida, Ohio State, West Virginia, Tennessee, and Rutgers.

Although Knight has yet to obtain a written scholarship offer, many of the schools that are showing heavy interest have asked to setup visits. During these visits, Knight stated that these programs intend on tending their scholarship offers. Among these schools, Florida is his stated leader. The gameday and campus of the "Gator Nation" has greatly impressed Knight. He has attended a number of the Gators home games with his friends who are students at Florida. Knight stated that "it is crazy up there".

Ohio State is Knight stated number two school. Many of the DBs in the program are upperclassmen. Therefore, they are in need for DBs so Knight would expect to recieve early playing time. Although he has yet to visit the campus, Knight stated "what is there not to like about them? They are the number one team in the country".

The relationship that Knight has built with the West Virginia coaching staff has enabled them to be listed as his number 3 school. Their defensive scheme and the success on the field are among the things that Knight likes about the current number 3 ranked team in the country.

Tennessee and Rutgers are tied for fourth. Since Knight has family in both Tennessee and New Jersey, he stated that he would be comfortable at either school. The need for DBs at both programs provides Knight with a good opportunity for early playing time.

Although Knight has yet to schedule any visits, he start to schedule his visits after the season. Fans of these schools will not need to wait long for a decision. He plans on a decision in December.

Note: So far this season, Knight has 2 INTs, 5 punt blocks, 65 tackles, 2 caused fumbles, 1 kick return for 75 yards. Along with basketball, he runs the 100 meters (10.7) and 200 meter (21.8) in track.
