Practice reports

I received these notes from fans about today's practice.

From Ray:

a crowd of 40 -50 fans there....much more than last year...the fan interest is
obviously building........
Schiano was much calmer this morning compared to last year.....maybe less
of an interest on his part of making a impression on these kids.....maybe a
greater comfort level with the talent ...or just more confidence himself having
gone thru camp once already as a HC.....I don't know.....
Musiek #17 field goal kicker did a nice job...the other kickers didn't kick well....
I didn't see any real diifference amoung QBs Cubit Hart Cali  in terms of
veliocity or accuracy.....Cubit  did toss one way short into the dirt but in all fairness
to him it may have been affected by a brief sudden gust of wind......
I did not think the Oline created any real space for RBs......conversely the Dline
was very strong up front and did not get pushed back......
as a result of poor blocking only Markis Facyson had a chance to get to outside
and did once or twice nicely......
Gilkison had one very nice pursuit and hard hit......
Shawn Tucker really looked like he had excellent form in catching the ball and has
nice exceleration once he does......
Darren Haliburton looked like a big target.....
Will Burnett looked to be in excllent shape with tremendous upper body strength....

From RTW:

OK, I'm back from practice. Finally hooked up with the guys and had a very enjoyable evening. GS surprised everyone when he opened the field for us(took the rope down) and thanked us for coming out to support the team. That was great, since the other practices that I had attended, it was difficult to see what was going on at the other end of the field. First off, I want to say that John Glass is one heckuva blocker. He could start today on this team. I was joking with Blackjax, that there must be a way of getting him to play this year. He was at right tackle and looked great. He blocks the run well. On one play he completely took a LB out, and the back was 15 yards downfield before you knew it. When they switched over to pass protection drills, he amazed me with his footwork. No one got passed him, not even close. I was disappointed with the play of Mcdonald and Segaloff though. They beat them several times. Vogt looked bewildered at times, but, he should, he's a frosh. The good news is that Blackwood looked good, has more mobility than I've seen from him in awhile. Carswell also looked good. I was concentrating a lot on the line play tonight, as they were mostly out of my view at the other practices. Espo looked ok. On the other side of the ball, Big Will is back!! Was harrassing the QB to no end. Watch out BE. Gibson looked ok and Pyz looked solid. Giacobbe surprised the heck out me. He's very quick off the LOS. Ryan Neil looked impressive. Man is Raheem Orr quick this year. I think he could have played bongo's off the QB's head if he wanted too. The kickers, (and I didn't see Musiek kick tonight, but read that he had kicked well in this mornings practice) were not very good. I didn't pay that much attention to the WR, P, TE or QBs tonight. Nugent continues to impress, as does Marcus Facyson. Marcus Jones and Boehrer dropped passes when they were wide open. Shawn Tucker, Chris Baker, Josh Hobbs, yes Josh Hobbs and Jerry Andre all had nice catches. Actually, Baker had several. I think he's turned some heads this camp. Of course, you can't follow everything that's going on, but, these are the things that I noticed. Hopefully, someone else will report on the players I didn't notice..........rtw
