Top 5 for Top NY OL

John Elliott, one of the top offensive linemen in the nation, has had a busy fall most recently helping his squad - East Meadow HS - to a victory in the Nassau Conference Semifinals against Massapequa, 34-13 this past Thursday evening. Though Elliott's been busy helping his team to an undefeated season thus far, he is down to a Final 5 schools. Who has made the cut for the Scout.com 4-star OL?

East Meadow HS set the tone early last week and rolled to a 34-13 victory over Massapequa HS. Coach Mascia's Jets racked up 320 yards of offense, 222 of which were on the ground. Leading the way was his star pupil John Elliott.

Elliott has remained focused on the task at hand, namely leading his team as far as possible through the playoffs. Despite that, according to Coach Mascia, Elliott is ready to name his Final 5. WHo has made the cut and who is out?

"It's Rutgers, Michigan, West Virginia, Boston College, and Virginia," stated Coach Mascia [the schools are not listed in any particular order]. All schools are likely to get an official visit from the 4-Star OL.

SOR asked Coach Mascia about his pupil's feeling on Rutgers.

"He's really interested in Rutgers. He really likes the Coaches and the Staff there. Coach Schiano and Coach Flood came to one of his games, week 5 I think it was, and that meant a lot to him. They've shown him that they really care about him and that's important to him."

Though Elliott is down to a Final 5, recruiting must take a back seat once more as East Meadow (9-0) will do battle versus No.2 Freeport (Freeport's only loss this year came at the hands of Coach Mascia's team) this coming Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Nassau County Championship game. The winner of this contest will move on to the Long Island Championships.
