Among the visitors to the Rutgers campus on the weekend of December 8th was one of New Jersey's best RBs, Mason Robinson. Initially, Robinson was scheduled to visit Boston College but the coaching changes at the school prompted him to reschedule the visit. Earlier in the football season, Robinson visited Michigan State and rated the visit a 10. Could the Rutgers visit be better than the one to Michigan State?
The quick answer to this question is yes. He actually rated the Rutgers visit a "10 1/2". He stated that the Rutgers visit was better than the visit to MSU and Rutgers is his leader. The fact that Rutgers focused on academics along with his interaction with the players and students were key attributes to the visit.
Robinson provided the below synopsis of his visit.
He arrived at the Rutgers Football Complex, the Hale Center. Upon his arrival, he met with many of the other recruits. Since he and many of the recruits took unofficial visits to Rutgers for games, he already knew players such as Keith Newell, Al-Ghaffar Lane, Manny Abreu, Alex Silvestro, and Anthony Davis. They played video games in the Rutgers players' lounge. The group met with a number of academic representatives and their hosts. For Robinson, his host was Kordell Young. Robinson took the opportunity to discuss what the freshmen experience is like at Rutgers and the campus life. The group then took a tour of the campus. That night, he hung out with Kordell Young and Anthony Davis. The trio went to a party and stopped by one of the players houses to hang out.
The day was highlighted by a trip to the ESPN Zone. He loved playing the video and other games. He tested this air hockey skills against those of Coach Rizzi and Coach Galiano.
That night, he hung out with Kordell Young, Ryan D'Imperio, Alex Silverstro, and John Elliot. The group hit a few parties and played NCAA football.
He woke up and ate some breakfast then talked to Coach Schiano. His talk with Schiano focused on the possibilities that can be afforded to him if he came to Rutgers.
As Robinson looks to conclude the recruiting process, he is reviewing the remaining schools on his list. Boston College is still a mystery to him. His recruiting coach from BC called to discuss the situation. The BC Coach stated that he will coach the bowl game and will be getting back to him. This all leaves Robinson puzzled about where he will take his next visit and where BC stands in his recruitment. Some of the other destinations for visits areMinnesota and Iowa. However, he is not sure on whether he will take another visit.
He might make a decision before Christmas or in January. It will depend on whether or not he will take another visit. Currently, he is thinking everything out before making a final decision. Stay tuned because he might make a decision at anytime.
