Florida S Joseph Nicolas commits to Rutgers

Safety Joseph Nicolas has committed to Rutgers. Nicolas was also told that he would return kicks for the Scarlet Knights. "The place just had a family feel. It is a place that I felt in my heart and made the decision. I knew yesterday but made the commitment to the coaches today. I told my family just recently and they gave me their blessing. They are very happy for me".

Nicolas was recruited by coach Demarest who had a big impact on him coming to Rutgers. A former Homestead high school player alsop influenced the south Floridian's decision. "I have known Eric (Foster) since we were little. I am very proud of how well he has done up there. Going up there and seeing him made it feel like family already".

Nicolas also mentioned the campus, the facilities, the player support, the way players get along with each other, the coaches, and the way practice is run in terms of organization and tempo as things that really impressed him. He also enjoyed his trip to the Big Apple and ESPN Zone. "The bright lights, the intensity of the place, it was great".

Nicolas mentioned that several of his Homestead High School teammates enjoyed the trip to Rutgers and seriously considering the school. But they need some more time before making a decision.

Nicolas had made trips to UCF, ASU, and Wisconsin before the Rutgers trip. He was scheduled to visit Miami in January. "I am not going to take the Miami trip. I am done. Rutgers is the place for me".
