"Yeah, I'm going to visit Miami this weekend. I'm still a Rutgers commitment but I just want to check things out," stated Nicolas.
Do Rutgers fans have anything to worry about, as far as Nicolas re-thinking his pledge?
"Naah, I'm going to Rutgers."
This past week Rutgers staff payed Nicolas an in-house visit. Nicolas' mother and the rest of his family had an opportunity to meet with Rutgers Defensive Backs Coach Chris Demarest, Nicolas' primary recruiter.
"The visit went well. He just talked to my mother and told her some of the things we'd be doing at Rutgers. She really liked him [Coach Demarest] and she's very comfortable with me going up there now."
That is not to suggest that Nicolas' mother was hesitant before meeting Coach Demarest, but after a face-to-face, the comfort level according to Nicolas is precisely where it should be.
"I also talked to Coach Schiano today. He was just telling me about what's going on up there and about the great offensive line commitments they have gotten already. He said he's going to be coming by next week so he can meet my mom also."
Nicolas has been busy this winter season with his HS basketball squad. The Broncos are a rather young team currently going through their share of growing pains, and the limited success they have had is in large part due to the Senior leadership of Nicolas.
Nicolas, the team's leading scorer at 15.2 ppg, plays the point guard position for Homestead HS. He is second on the team averaging 6.5 rebounds per game, while averaging 1.7 assists/game and 1.3 steals/game.
Nicolas will be taking his official visit this weekend and SOR will check back with the standout Floridian after completion of his official.
