Anthony Davis is regarded as the first consensus number one New Jersey High School prospect to commit to Rutgers. His commitment on national television brought great happiness to the hearts of the Rutgers faithful. This 6'6"-337lb prospect has been considered by many as the best offensive linemen in the nation and the jewel of what might be the best recruiting class in Rutgers history. As Davis readies for his first college football season, he talks about the Rutgers recruiting class and his expectations for his Rutgers career.
Currently, Davis is running and lifting in order to compete for the starting right guard position. Although he primarily played tackle in high school, he stated that he has the ability to play any offensive line position except for center. Many freshmen offensive linemen have problems adjusting to college football but Davis feels confident that he will quickly adjust. Davis stated "if you prepare right, it should be only a mental adjustment". Since he feels one of his two strengths are his work ethic and study of the game, this should not be a problem for him. As a part of his preparation, he will lose 12 pounds and report to camp at 325lbs to increase his quickness and speed.
He is utilizes the Test facility in Martinsville, New Jersey as his primary workout facility. Once he officially signs with the Scarlet Knights, he plans on utilizing the state of the art facility at Rutgers.
Davis likes the recruiting class and has been helping the Scarlet Knights land other players. During some of the recruiting weekends, Davis has taken the short ride to the Rutgers campus to hangout with some of the visiting prospects.
As a look in to the future, Davis believes everything is possible for this class and him to be achieved such as a national championship and all-american status for him. For now, Davis is looking to decide on whether or not he will play in any additional all-star games.
Davis' message to the Rutgers fans is "a national championship is coming".
