Omar Savage 8-29-2002 Omar Savage (DE, 6'4"-220lbs)

Omar Savage (DE, 6'4"-220lbs) from Piscataway H.S. in Piscataway N.J. is one of the best players in New Jersey. At 6'4"-220lbs, Savage has the type of body that college recruiters like. Due to his build, some schools are recruiting him as an OLB but he prefers the DE position. He has long arms and a solid shoulder build. His 6'4'-220lbs frame looks like it should be able to carry an additional 35 pounds.

Savage currently has 10 scholarship offers. He lists his favorites, in order, as Rutgers, Maryland, Clemson, Temple, and West Virginia.

Rutgers
- He likes the campus and coaching staff.
- The possibility of playing early is also a factor

Maryland
- He likes the location and the coaching staff
- He has family the Maryland area.

Clemson
- He likes the area and views it as a place where he would like to live. However, he has not visited the campus.

Temple
- Likes the area

West Virginia
- Likes the area

Will he commit early?

Although he is somewhat up in the air on the subject, he stated that he currently feels that he will not commit early. He wants to know in his heart that the school is the right place for him and that he will not have any regrets about this decision. As a result, he plans to take all of his visits before making a decision.

What is he looking for in a school?

He is looking for a school with a good football program but academics is important to him. A school with a good Computer Science and Business program is a must.

Why is Rutgers his leader?

As a result of Savage living so close to Rutgers, he has the ability to visit the campus often. This allows him to build a relationship with the coaches and players along with the building of a deeper familiarity with the campus.

In addition, he likes what the Rutgers coaching staff has been saying to him. He sees Coach Schiano's vision for the program.
