Futch's recruitment is taking off

Chaminade-Madonna's Jordan Futch (6'3 210) is starting to have his recruitment pick-up. The top LB in Broward County and one of the top 5 LB in the state of Florida has received offers from some of the top programs in the country and will surely have many more to follow.

Futch has garnered early offers from schools such as Ole Miss , Wisconsin , Georgia , West Virginia , Virginia , South Carolina and Auburn and it appears that NC State and Colorado may be close to offering. He recently had a conversation with coaches at Florida State and they expressed interest. He has been told that Miami may be entering the picture shortly. In all, Futch is receiving correspondence from schools across the country, including Rutgers. "The attention is growing. I am getting a lot of mail and have received some great offers. Whether I ultimately stay close to home or leave the state really does not matter. I just want to find a place that is family oriented. A strong family environment similar to what we have going here at Chaminade. A place with great coaches and players that fit together to make a strong team".

Talking to Futch, you realize that the young man is not only incredibly well spoken, but also grounded. "I have been blessed to have parents that push to bring out the best in me. I am at a great school that challenges you academically as well as athletically. I am at 3.02 overall GPA right now. I am lucky to be around coaches and players that love and respect the game of football. We have kids on our team like Tarik Rollins (6'2 195), Sharrod Jefferson (6'1 215), the younger Nwanko that will go out and compete and help us win. Guys that I think are college football level kids, and we bring out the best in all of us".

On the football field, Futch states his best attributes to be "while I like to be very aggressive and compete, I also have a good understanding of the game. Our coaches preach football fundamentals and I consider myself a smart football player. I love to hit and get after it, but at the same time I keep my responsibilities and make sure I do what is expected of me to help our team win".

At the recent Nike camp in Miramar , Futch turned heads with blazing times of 4.5 in the 40-yard dash and 4.1 in the shuttle. He will next showcase his talents at the scout.com combine.

In the meantime, he is working out daily with Coach Guandolo in order to gain mass and strength. And Futch is also involved in speed and endurance training with Miami Pace coach Mario Smith. "Coach Smith does a good job in helping us get better. I was going to run track, but instead am going to spend the spring working out. I just look for ways to compete and push myself and others around me to develop and get better".
