Quincy Douby

Quincy Douby, 6-3, 185, SG, Grady HS, Brooklyn

Why did you choose Rutgers?

"The staff is real good and they are in the Big East. They play against top teams and I really liked the school."

Who else recruited you?

"Providence, St. John's, Syracuse, UNC- Charlotte, South Florida, UMass and  Mississippi State, they all offered me scholarships."

What has been your impression of coach Waters?

"He is a real good guy. I like him a lot."

What were your stats last year?

"35 points per game. I played the point a little also. I had 3 assists per game. I also had 4 rebounds per game."

Can you play defense?

"I have been working on that as soon as I got to prep school. I work a lot on that after my classes."

Douby averaged 35 points a game as a high school senior. Quincy once hit 18 three pointers in a high school game, going 18 for 21 in that game. He is considered to be perhaps the best shooter to come out of New York City in 40 years. That is impressive since former St. John's great and NBA star Chris Mullin, one of the top shooters in memory, also came out of NYC. Quincy is also noted as a great leaper." I never measured my vertical leap but I can dunk a basketball. I am an exciting player. I know how to get the crowd involved."
