One of the more intriguing prospects in Long Island is Mike Catapano, who is a big FB/LB at 6'4"-235lbs. Catapano plays with a mean attitude.

Chaminade HS in Long Island is home to a very intriguing fullback prospect. Mike Catapano (6’4 235), who also split time as a LB, led his team to the playoffs last year, finally succumbing to the powerful St Anthony’s program. “We had a good year last year. St Anthony’s was a tough team. But that loss serves as motivation. We have some very good talent on this team and are determined to have an even better season this coming year”.

Catapano played the year with two broken hands, but still did some very good things on film. “On film, you see me running around with these two club hands. But I did relatively well. We sent film to a bunch of schools and have gotten some very positive responses. I have been hearing from Southern Miss, Rutgers, TCU, Syracuse, Boston College, Virginia, Eastern Michigan, UCF, UCLA, BYU and Vanderbilt”.

Catapano has attended two Junior Day events thus far. “I went up to Syracuse and the facilities were unbelievable. Coach Salgado is recruiting me and I like him a lot. I was also at Rutgers and that was just awesome. Coach Joe Susan started recruiting me and now I am in contact mostly with Coach Flood”.

Catapano, who was a lacrosse player, has decided to spend his spring lifting weights. “I am working out hard for the upcoming season. I want to use that to help me with my recruitment. But I also owe it to my teammates to be in the best shape I can be. I think we can make a big run this year”.

Catapano holds a 94 scholastic average and will take the SAT on May 5th. This spring he is scheduled to attend the and Nike Elite combines. He will also camp at Duke, Syracuse, Yale, BC, and Holy Cross.
